| Mary and her best pal, Dixie. Oil painting on panel. I finished this painting of my neighbor, Mary and her dog, Dixie a couple of weeks ago. I met Mary on walks with Chloe. I would see her walking Dixie and we'd wave and say hello. Dixie was an old girl and she started to decline quite a bit. Sadly she passed away last summer. I knew how much she meant to Mary. After she passed, Mary told me she had plans to move to New Hampshire. She's growing tired of all the changes that Portland is going through, as am I. I decided to add her portrait to the series because of her moving plans. I'm hoping to show this, along with the other portraits, next year at Upper Playground in downtown Portland. |
